Letter from James Brew, Pupil pre-1939

" Hi Gordon.
Just found this site when searching the Rutherglen Reformer.I attended before the second World War and moved on to Gateside Secondary in 1941.I have entered my name on role but it look's like I'm a little long in the tooth when I see the date's of the other ex-pupil's. The headmaster when I started was Mr. Skeen.[not sure if its the right spelling].Then just after the war started we got a new headmaster his name was Mr. Miller.I remember he had an artificial leg I believe he lost his leg in first World War.

The names of some of the teacher's during my time were Misses,Sillar, Beadie, Wylie, Geddes, Wilson Campbell [she was nicknamed Dolly because when you did something that pleased her she would give you some dolly mixtures.] Needless to say she was a very young teacher. where as the others had taught
my aunt's& uncle's.The last teacher before moving on to Gateside School was Mr Fletcher [He used to fill out his football coupon then send out one of his pupil's to drop it in the mail]

Well I think that is it for me keep up the good work.I'll hope that sometime I might see some body else of my generation listed.

Best wishes
James Brew."
